Medium Voltage MCC
A medium-voltage motor control center is a collection of enclosed sections that share a power bus and mainly consists of motor control units. MV MCCs are used in many industrial and commercial applications. MV-MCCs offer the optimal solution for grouping electrical motor control, automation, and power distribution in a compact and cost-effective package. MV-MCCs are composed of structures that are completely enclosed and freestanding, and they are joined together by bolts. These sections support and house control units, a common bus bar for power distribution to the control units, and a network of wire trough and conductor entrance areas for accommodating incoming and outgoing load and control wires.
The medium voltage control panel is responsible for initiating and terminating electrical loads, thereby enhancing productivity, optimizing process performance, and facilitating energy conservation. Medium-voltage control panel (MVC) comprises starters and adjustable frequency drives, with voltage ranging from 2,300 to 13,800 volts. The motor loads can range from 50 horsepower to around 8,000 horsepower depending on voltage.
The usual function of a medium voltage control panel is to control motors utilized in pumping, fans, and chiller applications. Additionally, medium-voltage control can also energize transformers and capacitors, along with other equipment responsible for powering oil and gas, water and wastewater systems, utility generation, and various other applications.
